Job Overview:
As a Technical Counsellor, you will play a key role in guiding and advising prospective students about IT training programs, certifications, and career paths. You will engage with individuals to understand their technical background, learning needs, and professional goals, and recommend suitable courses offered by the institute. Your primary objective is to help students make informed decisions and to assist them in starting or advancing their careers in the IT industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Counselling & Guidance:
- Provide one-on-one and group counselling sessions to prospective students regarding IT courses and certifications.
- Assess students’ educational and career goals to recommend suitable IT training programs.
- Explain course content, duration, pricing, and career outcomes of various IT programs such as Full Stack Development, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, DevOps, etc.
- Lead Management:
- Respond to inquiries from prospective students via phone, email, and in-person.
- Follow up with leads generated through marketing campaigns to convert them into enrolments.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions and update the lead management system.
- Career Path Consulting:
- Offer career advice related to IT job roles such as developers, network engineers, cloud administrators, data analysts, etc.
- Inform students about industry trends, certifications in demand (like AWS, Azure, CCNA, etc.), and potential career opportunities in the IT sector.
- Enrolment Management:
- Assist prospective students in completing the admission process, including paperwork and payment plans.
- Work with the admissions team to ensure a smooth onboarding process for enrolled students.
- Meet enrollment targets by providing excellent counseling and support.
- Technical Knowledge & Updates:
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in IT, ensuring you can give accurate, up-to-date advice to students.
- Attend training sessions or workshops organized by the institute to stay informed about new courses, tools, and technologies.
- Relationship Management:
- Build strong relationships with students by offering continued support throughout their training journey.
- Gather and act upon feedback from students to enhance the quality of counseling and training programs.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with the marketing, admissions, and academic teams to align student needs with available courses.
- Coordinate with trainers and faculty members to provide prospective students with deeper technical insights when needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, or a related field (preferred).
- Prior experience in counselling, sales, or customer service, ideally in the education or IT sector.
- Basic understanding of IT technologies such as programming, networking, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and other industry-relevant topics.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students.
- Ability to work in a target-driven environment and meet enrolment goals.
- Proficiency in using CRM or lead management software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to explain technical concepts in a simple and clear manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a technical counsellor or in IT education sales.
- Knowledge of industry certifications like AWS, Azure, Cisco, or Microsoft certifications.
- Experience with education ERP systems or lead management tools.
